A Note from your Hosts...
In 2003, my family discovered Brookwood, a once-triplex in need of love yet brimming with potential along the enchanting Back Creek. Over the years, we've encountered a rich tapestry of wildlife here. Inspired by the original visionary, Arnold Shropshire, we transformed Brookwood into a family heirloom—a sanctuary of relaxation, comfort, and safety. After extensive renovations and personal touches, we made it our home in 2005, crafting every detail to create an "aura" of instant calm that envelops anyone who visits.
As an architect and builder with a deep appreciation for sustainable design, I've spent decades shaping homes in Virginia, including Brookwood, my personal masterpiece built with my wife, Elizabeth. Beyond architecture, my passions as a sculptor and energy enthusiast have influenced every space within Brookwood, making it not just a house, but a living artwork.

In order to create a safe haven for those with chemical sensitivities, Brookwood House is proud to be a fragrance-free home! All common household necessities (cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, etc) are supplied for you so you don’t have to wonder what is and isn’t okay to use!
